'Месть' продолжает тему, начатую Джонни То в фильмах 'Миссия' и 'Oтвepжeнныe' о профессиональных убийцах и вновь объединяет на съемочной площадке Энтони Вонга, Саймона Яма, Эдди Чеунга, Лама Суэта и Лама Тунга.
Фильм — совместный проект Гонконга и Франции, соединивший в работе крупнейшего гонконгского дистрибьютора Media Asia, французского дистрибьютора ARP Sélection и студию Milkyway Джонни То.
В фильме разговаривают на трех языках: французском, английском и кантонском наречии.
Премьера фильма состоялась в мае 2009 года на 62-ом Канском Фестивале, где картина боролась за право обладания Пальмовой Ветвью. В Азии фильм открыл Гонконгский Летний Международный Кинофестиваль в августе 2009-го. В Северной Америке фильм был представлен в рубрике Специальный Показ Фестиваля в Торонто.
