«This is a fairly interesting film that’s completely focused on getting a point across at the expense of any sort of action or excitement. Although there is one actual fight scene with a group of vampires it doesn’t last very long at all - unfortunately vampires are much easier to kill than we’re led to believe.»
«At exactly 35 minutes, “Longinus” isn’t really much of a movie — in terms of length and, unfortunately, story. As with most of Kitamura’s films, style and a singular good idea (a movie premise) takes center stage. In this case, the style is old hat and ratty, like the hero’s clothes, and the story reads like something a 5-year old would write.»
«Kitamura excels at creating visually interesting yet soulless action set-pieces. The camera work and lighting, using patches of light amongst thick shadows and fog, is top notch; much better than you see in films with comparable budgets here in the US. Music, as well, is sufficiently eerie, bolstering the overall mood of the film.»
