Wong transforms herself utterly inside and out, and the scenario proceeds as scripted until an unexpectedly fatal twist spurs her to flee. Shanghai, 1941. With no end in sight for the occupation, Wong having emigrated from Hong Kong goes through the motions of her existence. Much to her surprise, Kuang re-enters her life. Now part of the organized resistance, he enlists her to again become Mrs. Mak in a revival of the plot to kill Yee, who as head of the collaborationist secret service has become even more a key part of the puppet government. «Lust, Caution is a film worth seeing again, a film worth having your own opinion about, a challenging piece of cinema that also thrills, a complicated bold work that's bigger than its problems.»
«Even as a less visible or immediately provocative tale than Brokeback, Lust, Caution is a beautiful, erotically-charged tale that easily stands among the director's best work.»

«Given the glossiness of the production, it seems strange. In the art-house world, this is Ang Lee’s Pearl Harbour, with the audience draw (and NC-17 marketing hook) not being a point-of-view bomb-cam as it crashes into naval hardware, as displayed in Michael Bay’s misfired epic, but rather in gorgeously lit, yet bombastic sexual gymnastics.»
