Set in Japan and New York, Heavenly Forest is a junai (true love) story from author Ichikawa Takuji, based on his novel 'Renai Shashin: Mo Hitotsu no Monogatari' which was written as a spin-off of Tsutsumi Yukihiko's 2003 film 'Collage of Our Lives' (Renai Shashin) starring Hirosue Ryoko and Matsuda Ryuhei. Ichikawa is best known as the progenitor of the 'Ima, Ai ni Yukimasu' (Be With You) phenomenon, having penned the bestselling novel which became a massive hit movie starring future couple Nakamura Shido and Takeuchi Yuko.
«Heavenly Forest exceeds expectations in no small part due to the genuine chemistry between its two leads, both of whom deliver fine performances in their own right. Aoi Miyazaki fans will not be disappointed.»
«A love story like that certainly had the potential to become a formulaic yawn fest, but fortunately “Heavenly Forest” was more of an entertaining smile-fest. The film was filled with eye candy and the pacing was refreshingly upbeat for most of its runtime.»
«The story seems pretty much straightforward, but the direcotr plays around with us and has a few twists up his sleeve. This makes the movie actually 10 times stronger than it already is and guarantees to steal your heart…..that is if Aoi didn’t already do that.»
