«Set in a grim, ugly-looking town where the people seem motivated by boredom rather than any enthusiasm for life, the film is most memorable for its black humor and the great presence shown by its two lead actors.»
«Funny without resorting to the usual surrealistic slapstick, and action packed in a savage, though thoughtful way, it rates as one of the best Korean films of the year so far.»
«THE ART OF FIGHTING forms an intersection of quirky humor and bloody violence that offers something genre fans may not have seen before. The mentor/student relationship of martial arts movies is given an irreverent twist with some action that involves intentionally artless and unpleasant survival fighting.»
